Retrospective and Apache

Everyone has heard of the Apache - both the Native American tribe and the most popular web server, first to hit 100 million installations worldwide. It runs on home servers hosting personal homepages as well as in data centers hosting thousands of commercials websites. No matter the use case, there is a slight chance that something will go wrong. And it just did... what now?

Supersonic fast

The ultimate guide to Retrospective column splitting

The ultimate guide to Retrospective column splitting. You know how big those log files can get, don’t you? And you know how overwhelming they can be when it comes to browsing through them, right?
We at centeractive are well aware of that and we do our best to make log files browsing as efficient and as little miserable as possible. Column splitting is one of our remedies to do that. We did already blog about it a while ago but now we wanted to give you more insight on the manual column splitting definition.

Right-click configuration

Right-click configuration.  Every log definition added to Retrospective carries some more or less important information. This information is processed by the search engine according to defined search parameters and the search results are presented to the user. The results presentation itself may be different and it’s determined by various settings defined during source configuration. Well defined configuration allows for clear data presentation but it can take some time to fine tune the splitting strategy and having to do the same for every single file added to the Retrospective wouldn’t be very convenient, would it?

Pattern Weaving

The ties that bind
“correlation" - noun: mutual relation of two or more things..: Correlation has been in the English language since the 16th century. Its French cousin, corrélation, comes from Latin which literally means “restoring things together.” 1It is clear from the latest industry reports that the collection, storage and archiving of large volumes of log data from a wide variety of devices is no longer a major issue for modern log management products. However, this very success has only aggravated the growing problem of the lack of efficient tools for extracting
actionable information from those vast amounts of data. This issue can only be resolved by improvements in the searching, analysing and reporting capabilities of log management products.
